Popbang Colour came into being in 2008 by artist Ian Cook. Cook creates his enormous paintings of cars (autodrawings) using radio controlled cars, toy car wheels and tyres. The technique started after a chance comment by his then girlfriend who bought him a radio controlled car and told him not to get paint on it! The pieces are created at car events or in his studio at the Heritage Centre, Gaydon, Warwickshire. His most notable piece is the enormous portrait of Lewis Hamilton (12m x 8m) created in London, October 2008.
