  Ernesto, sei libero di non crederci, ma tu non immagini nemmeno quanto io sia felice per questo.
  Tu rappresenti gran parte di quello che io ritengo giusto e corretto nella fotografia.
  Ora abbiamo fatto amicizia e ne sono veramente contento; se ben ricordi, nella prima lettera che ci siamo scambiati, io ti avevo accennato che in passato avevo fatto qualche piccolo tentativo di contattarti, lo avevo sono messo tra le righe dei commenti alle tue foto, ma non ero arrivato a nulla. Tu ami fare le foto in solitudine, anche per me é la condizione ideale, solo la mia compagna che sono più di 30 anni che mi accompagna, sa come prendermi, e viaggia con me e condivide alcuni di questi momenti: ma quando scatto una foto, in quell’attimo, non c’è nessuno, sono io e la mia inquadratura, bella o brutta che sia, soli e in disparte.
  Quando mi avevi detto della giornata a Castelluccio, ora te lo posso dire, ero rimasto spiazzato: conoscevo le tue foto, le sentivo e sentivo come erano state scattate, non mi tornava il tuo invito ... graditissimo per carità, mi aveva fatto molto piacere, però non mi tornava. A me a volte capita di pensare che alcune foto vengono scattate non dalla “testa”, ho la sensazione che vengano da dentro; te lo dico in maniera infantile e semplice, dalla pancia, dallo stomaco.
  Forse perché da piccolo ritenevo che l’anima fosse li dentro, quando avevo paura o a per un emozione grande, era quella sensazione di vuoto allo stomaco che sentivo ... .
  L’anima era li dentro, ne ero sicuro.
  Scusami ma per me alcune delle tue foto sono scattate dalla pancia (molte delle mie con i piedi ndr. eheheh) spero che tu capisca quello che voglio dire.
  Le “lavori” certo che le lavori le tue foto, ma non le snaturi, mai: è, e rimane, la Foto, quella foto.
  Scatti immagini con la bellezza di quello che sono, la bellezza che comprende la dignità, la storia, a volte il degrado, e più difficile di tutto, la storia di quell’immagine, la sua vita, la sua età, a volte semplice a volte complessa, senza artifici che la violentino ancora solo per dire che “la foto è interpretata da me!!!”
  Certo che è interpretata, ma non è più la Foto, quella foto.
  Tu scatti Fotografie, per me sei tra i più bravi che conosca, mostri sacri compresi e le tue foto si riconoscono in mezzo a mille.
  Dovendo descrivere il tuo lavoro in maniera sintetica definirei la tua “fotografia laica”
  Queste sono solamente mie riflessioni, confuse e strampalate, spero di non averti offeso, soprattutto per la storia della pancia!!!
  Poi qui la Protezione Civile ha dato lo stato di allerta 3 per il caldo per cui, quasi quasi, sono giustificato:
  
  Sai cos’altro penso, che sei tu che hai fatto un favore a Photo Warrior non loro a te

  Dear Ernesto, you can not believe it, but you could never imagine my happiness for this.
  Yor are the exact image of what I think right and honest in photography.
  I am really happy of our friendship. Perhaps you can call to mind how in our first letter I told you of my former attempts to come in touch with you. I wrote it between the lines of my comments to your photos.
  You love taking photos alone, and this is the ideal condition for me too. There is only a person that come with me, she is my lifemate, she is being with me for thirty years and she knows how to treat me, she travels with me and shares some of this moments. But when I take a photos, in that very moment, there is noone with me, just me and the image, fine or not, alone and aside.
  When you told me of the day at Castelluccio, now I can confess you thar I was a bit disoriented. I knew your photos, I felt them and I felt how they have been caught, your invitation sounded strange. I appreciated it, but it sounded strange. Sometimes I think that photos are not caught by head, I feel how they are coming from the inside. I tell you this in a simple way, they come from the belly.
  This idea of the belly comes to me perhaps from a child memory, when I thougth that the soul was in the belly. When I was afraid, or when I felt a great emotion, it was that sensation of empty belly that caught me... The soul was certainly there,
  I apologize for this, but I think that some photos of yours come from the belly (while great part of mine are caught with my feet, eheheh), and I hope you mean what I am saying.
  You “work” your photos, certainly you do it, but you never hide thei true nature. The photo is and remains what it is. Your photos have a true beauty, a beauty which comprehend dignity, history, sometimes the decay and, more difficult that other, the story of that image, its life, its age, sometimes simple, other complex, without artificial elements that could make violence to it “just to impose tje photographer’s point of you!!!”.
  It is interpretated, but it is no more that photo, the photo.
  You make photos, and I believe you are between the greatest, famous photographers included, and your works are unmistakable.
  To give a synthetic image of your photography, one could say that is a “secular Photography”.
  This are only thougths of mine, at random, I hope they do not offend you, particularly for the story of the belly!!!
  Without considering that here, in Umbria, The Civil Protection has given the alert level 3 for the high temperature, so I am in some way excused.
  
  More over. I think that you have made a favour to Photo Warrior and not they to you.
  
  Congratulations. Even if this letter will make you angry, I will go on looking at your photos.
