I am an english guy living in Munich, Germany. I love to travel and get to places where I can practise my passion for photography. You are more likely to find me staying in a youth hostel than in a 5 star hotel and you will always see me carrying a small rucksack - never a suitcase or trunk.

I love to photograph people. I fell into the trap of setting up elaborate studio lighting and backgrounds only to discover that my best photos always seemed to be "snaps" taken with available light, usually in the subjects' familiar surroundings or in my home, relaxing with a cup of tea !

I try to keep my equipment simple and light which fits well with my preference for large aperture prime lenses and no "superzooms". Most of my photos seem to be taken in very low light, either with normal room lighting at night time or out in the streets at night. It seems that the most exotic creatures only come out during the night and in order to capture them I have to adapt to their nocturnal lifestyle - at least during the weekends when I don't have to go to my "daytime" job - which has nothing to do with photography.

I have been taking photos since I was five years old. My first camera was a Box Brownie with 120 roll film. Of course in those days all photos were black and white, which I still enjoy using from time to time. I later learned to develop my own films and make prints in my makeshift darkroom at home.

These days my photographs are made digitally using modern cameras. I find the use of professional image processing software on a computer allows excellent results to be achieved in a short time, and the photos are easily transferred to end users electronically. On the other hand - I seem to be going back to film partly because I love the excitement of not knowing how a shot will look until the film comes back from the lab.

I travel extensively, mostly in Asia, and enjoy making documentary and lifestyle photographs of people and everyday situations.

I value feedback so please leave comments on the photos or send me a message via Flickr mail. I will do my best to answer as soon as possible.

Please note that the appearance of a person in my photos says nothing about their own preferences, political views or anything else. If you see yourself in one of my photos and object to its publication then please let me know and I will delete it !

I have been looking at the statistics of the number of views my photos get and think I have discovered how to get far more hits. I just need to upload more photos of nakedness ! These pictures are amazingly popular. Any volunteers to model ???

I think my photos look better on a black background. Try this:
