Rocket science author, fiction author, film and television scriptwriter. Freelance journalist.

I’m a full-time author, scriptwriter and journalist. I work freelance and always have.

A degree in marketing and business came in useful early in my career when I was a newspaper feature writer and copywriter. The editorials I wrote for car companies led to me becoming a motoring correspondent and I got to test drive cars every week for the press for 3 years. That was a lot of fun!

I’ve written about everything from cars to computers, finance to fashion – and I had great success with this. That’s when I became an NUJ journalist.

Since then, I’ve had 35 books published, for adults and children, fiction and non-fiction (though mainly children’s books specialising in rocket science). Several of my books have been bestsellers.

I’m also a film and television scriptwriter. Comedy (including romantic comedy), drama, thriller and action/adventure are my main genres.

I’m Scottish, based in Ayr, Scotland, and split my time between Scotland, Dublin and London.


General interests:

I specialise in writing rocket science books for children. From 2004-2008, I wrote about rocket science for B.USOC, part of the ground segment of the International Space Station.

I also specialise in photography, art, illustration and design.

Additionally, I’ve always been interested in fitness. As a former N.A.B.B.A. Miss Scotland, I had a weekly fitness show on the radio. It may seem unusual to have a radio keep fit show, but it became very popular with listeners and ran for 3 years.

Awards: Gold, silver and bronze medals in Speech and Drama from the Guildhall, London.

What's happening in 2010:

Several of my books will be coming out this year. Fiction novels and non-fiction.

And working on film and television scripts.
