I have been interest in photography for many years. My main love before that was art. I suppose photography originally started as a way to shoot things to paint. I went digital in 2005 and have found photoshop a great tool to try to recreate the feel of a painting in photography. Another of my interest is natural history, although I don't have the time to devote to this demanding aspect of photography. Most of my photos are snaps taken when out and about with the family.

I love the use of strong colour in photography as well as the tonal qualities of black and white. As of last year I have been using infrared photography for a lot of my black and white images. It gives a surreal quality to the picture, black skies and frosty white foliage. It's great for bright sunny days where colours are washed out with conventional photography. Unfortunately we don't get may bright sunny days in the UK!.

Like many hobby photographers I went through the equipment trail before realising what matters to me and what I can use to get the image quality good enough for what I want.
For infrared I use:
Canon 400D converted with 720 nm fliter.
Canon EFS 10-22mm.

For visible:
