Adam Jones, Ph.D.'s photostream  

I'm an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of British Columbia Okanagan in Kelowna, BC, Canada. I've authored or edited a dozen books, including Genocide: A Comprehensive Introduction and Crimes Against Humanity: A Beginner's Guide. I'm also an inveterate traveller who has lived or voyaged in around 70 countries on every populated continent. In 2008 I published my first book of travel photography, Latin American Portraits, with The Key Publishing House in Toronto. Nearly all my books are available on Amazon, often cheaper than from the publisher. You can also request that your library or other institution add me to their collection.

They are posted under a Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0 license. Many are crossposted, generally under the same titles, to Wikimedia Commons. I acknowledge a huge debt to the often unknown individuals who appear in my people shots. I recognize the sensitivity of presenting them to wide viewing in these galleries. My strategy is to record subjects creatively in the evanescent moment we share. I offer the results as a tribute to their uniqueness and vitality, and as a celebration of humanity as a whole. I believe that no subject is presented in a way that could reasonably be considered disrespectful, demeaning, or invasive. Virtually every such photo is taken in a public setting. I trust that this constitutes a "fair use" of their personas in my photography, and supports its distribution under a Creative Commons license.

I have so far posted sets from Argentina, Benin, Bolivia, Brazil, Bosnia & Herzegovina, British Columbia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Central Europe, Croatia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ghana, India, Iraqi Kurdistan, Israel/Golan, Laos, Latvia, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, Turkey, the United States, and Vietnam. Planned future travels (and sets) include Iran/Uzbekistan and Rwanda/Uganda in 2012.
