Two of my greatest interests are junking and crafting. I love finding items at garage sales, in flea markets and am not above adopting some unloved things from the side of the road.
I have been a crafter all of my life. I can remember as a child sitting at my grandmother’s feet creating dresses for my dolls. She was a tailor and I was never allowed to touch the sewing machine. Imagine my terror when, after she left the room for a moment, I put my foot on the pedal and the machine whirred like a demon, bounced up and down and sent the straight pins she kept in an old ashtray on the machine flying all over the room - lol!
I’ve crocheted, knitted, sewed, and painted. I’ve done all kinds of craft shows, from those in church basements to those that draw thousands of people. During my craft show period I made and sold more than 500 lop-eared bunnies. I’ve created ooak collectible Santas and am a Christmas fanatic. In the recent past I've been entranced by painting primitive country/Americana designs on vintage items; kerosene cans, suitcases, old drawers and boxes, etc. This allows me to combine two of my passions - junking and painting. One of my favorite designers is Terrye French. I love to paint her designs and draw immense inspiration from her.
