About me
I started doing photography in 1995 when I did a GCSE night course to enable me to take better holiday photographs. This then progressed onto a BTEC National at Sheffield College. I then moved to Blackpool to study my degree in Design Photography at Blackpool and Fylde College, graduating in 2001. After this I worked in a local company in Preston doing Photography and design for them. I then had a break from photography and did a day job for a while before coming back to it.

My Work
My photography work reflects my personal interests and feelings along with my interest for history and nostalgia. Most of my grounding in Photography has been in Film and Hand printing photographs in the darkroom with a small amount of digital input. I'm really interested in experimenting with creative printing techniques in both Colour and Black and white. During my final year I developed a style of printing combining Hand printing in the darkroom with a limited amount of digital manipulation resulting in some unique textured images with a painterly quality to them.

I have embraced digital technology and now shoot a lot of my work with a Canon Digital SLR as this has it's advantages of being able to shoot an almost infinite amount of images at a reasonable cost and be able to view them instantly. However you lose the excitement of waiting to get your prints back to see how they have turned out when you use film along with the hands on approach to darkroom printing. I still use a Large Format film camera and am looking do further exploration with film.
