Mona Loldwoman (Look for the good)'s photostream

Update on Mona:
Mona is alive and doing well despite having her head opened so they could drain the fluids from her hemorrhage.
Sadly, Mona has suffered not only memory loss but VERY vivid delusions, which are not as bad as now as they were in March. However communicating with her tends to be difficult at times as she does not remember how old I am or where we are living now.
These and other deep confusion issues forced me to face the difficult choice of placing Mona in a Nursing Home.

The most frustrating part is that she is now 50 miles away from us and I hope to change that shortly.
Curiously Mona recalls Flickr and some of the people she has met here, despite a 10yr + memory gap.

My family and I are grateful for the kinds words you have sent us through emails and other contacts.
Perhaps if I can get a computer and internet to where Mona is staying she can regale you with her stories of the people she has met in her new temp. home. She has still kept her firey spark and sense of humor haha.

September 21, 2009. I just found out how to update this. Almost two months on Flickr now. and completely addicted. My gardens are very upset with me as they have been neglected due to this new addiction. I must learn to "pace" myself. ... ( I thought I had. LOL)

1st - I join most groups to help me remember to find my way back to enjoy looking at YOUR lovely photos. My groups are over 300 now, (which type of pictures I look at & enjoy depends on my mood) I like options.! My contacts are few..If I'm going to be a contact, I expect myself to comment on your photos.

HELLO CURIOSITY SEEKERS,
So you want to know more about me. Well, I'm Old, really old, older than I look though (think Dorian Grey, I have THE picture hiding in my closet, NOT). My mother was old when she had me (busy fighting for her rights) and I was old when I had my daughter. (busy fighting for eveyones rights). I've burried two husbands. The last one was the love of my life and will remain so forever. No greater love could exist. I fought for my country with the first. and fought for human rights, Women's rights and free speech with the second. I have been a warrior, a writer, a poet and artist. My leggs don't work right. My fingers don't work right either. I'm a bent and twisted sight.
Every morning when I wake up and my old bones scream,
I smile...... It means I'm still alive.
I'm slightly warped (others might prefer a stronger word than slightly). I'm a victorian in a twisted way. I live with my daughter & her hubby and Their Beautiful, Magical Autistic Daughter. I love my family, my pets, my garden and Art.
Any excuse for a parade, fireworks or a picnic.. And I love OLD cemetaries. My daughter says I'm shopping for my next home when we go.wandering in them (That may be true...whats her excuse?).
I've had a computer for 12+ years, the 'house' has had internet most of that time. I have had my wireless card for about 2 years, I finally Plugged in for May day 2009(phobias).
So this internet stuff is ALL new to me !
I'd rather watch a parade than be in one.
I believe
Good fences make good neighbors.
If you don't know...ASK.
Never be afraid to apologize.
The road less traveled is usually more interesting.
Detours aren't necessarily a bad thing, They are just a forced road less traveled.
A man (or woman) has got to learn their limitations! but challenge them occationally.
Push it to the limit, just don't break it.
Those who can ....do ....those who can't take pictures... some are lucky enough to do both.
Learn something new....everyday. EVERYDAY.
STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS.

My Mother taught me to live by these 'rules' AND I DO !
Treat others the way you want to be treated.
There is NEVER a reason to be rude.
If you can't say something nice...keep your mouth shut.
Don't stay where you're not wanted.
Fight for what is right, but don't be a bully.
Protect those who need protecting.
Its okay if you burned your bra, just don't burn your bridges.
If you must critisize, include yourself...your are not perfect.

Now,....if you're still awake go enjoy flickr
I'm going to take a nap.
(babies, kids, and old people need naps)

Just an FYI
MY NAME is a gift of my Cherokee grandfather ( not to be confused with my Irish grandfather or German grandfather or Scottish grandfather). From before I was born, He always called me Hormonal Old Woman, He love to play with the alphabet. I was a moody thing and now that I AM old it really fits. I miss his wisdom.

AND

I am NOT an Okie ! ( Okie implies ignorance )
I AM an Oklahoman. ( Oklahoman usually implies, though not always true, some degree of intellegence)
Don't be offended, I said IMPLIES.
I lived through the days when being called an Okie was a bad thing, ( dirty Okies), rather like the "n" word.
but there are those who don't mind being called an Okie, it simply offends me, and that makes it My problem...not yours.

I came across a new friend today trying to quit smoking, I thought I should add this part of my comment to her.

I quit cigarettes cold turkey in 1992 after years of smoking.
My husband and I quit cursing, drinking, smoking, and eventually traveling. It brought us ..a a ...closer. When he took to cigars, I joined him.. I lost him 8 years ago (not cancer), which meant I gave up the..a...a...too, but I'm taking the evening cigar with me to the end. and thats not negotiable. Every evening hot or cold, rain or shine, I sit on the porch in my rocker, smoke our cigar and he and I talk, like always. Its the one hour a day everyone leaves me alone.
No one wants to bother the old woman sitting on her porch smoking a cigar talking to 'no one'. (I'm old & crazy not stupid) :D

Now I am going to take that nap.

October 5th, 2009 .
Found "Holiday" groups. Uh oh. . I just hit 400 groups... hmmm . I went thru all my groups and i can't part with any of them. They all please me in different ways! ( I did give up a few contacts...we weren't communicating)

Over 500 groups now but I think I've covered ALL my interests now.
I have spent the last 2 days adding about 60 contacts to "My Contacts". They are mostly Military or Government streams. They do not keep the place in my heart that is held by "people" contacts. They are a link to my past and our future. People Contacts are special. saying that.

Oh, ... I use
My poor little HP potosmart 735 camera. It doesn't take great pictures like it should. But its GREAT for video.
I mostly use my "grown" daughters camera for pics, a Nikon coolpix 4600. I stole it... NO. She donated it to the 'cause', .... Cause flickr keeps me out of her & her husbands hair. LOL

I used to have a Canon F1 with ALL the extras, six different lenses, filters, light meter, including a darkroom. (made the house payment with it more than once). It was a shared love with my husband. I sold it all along with our "airbrush set-up after I burried him. and didn't take a picture or touch-up a picture for five years. My granddaughter brought multiple joys back into my life Including photography, and a small point n shoot digital. I have relearned my favorite 'trade' digitally. So I'm in my forth childhood now with her. I love this digital 'age'.!

and its nap time again. :D
I'm telling ya, Old people need naps. ( I don't sleep, I just nap 2 or 3 times a day. :D )

To all of Mona's friends and contacts...
My name is Sara and I am Mona's daughter;
On Feb 22 Mona suffered a stroke at the base of her brain and spine and has been in a hospital ICU unit. She is alive and breathing on her own but she not yet completely aware of her surroundings.
They have finally moved her out of ICU and will begin her therapy shortly.

As you can imagine this has been a tough time for all of Mona's family as she is the rock, the sun and the laughter of our family. We are shocked and saddened by this tragic twist of fate and we pray everyday for a swift and complete recovery.

I apologize for taking so long to get thi message out, but I do not know flickr and how to change or add anything. If you have any questions or concerns you may email me at egbertgirl2003@yahoo.com.
