In my childhood in Christchurch, New Zealand I began taking photos with my father's Box Brownie. After a year or so I was given my first camera - a Kodak Instamatic 133. Several years and cameras later I was using a Pentax Program A SRL, living in Greymouth with the beautiful Southern Alps within reach.
We New Zealanders call our country “Gods own country” with good reason!

I was learning that there was more to photography than family portraits! That photography is a complex hobby – trying to combine what you see and feel, and the weather and light conditions and getting that all in one photo.

Whilst backpacking through Asia, Africa and the Middle East. I used my camera to capture the ‘moment’, knowing I would never be able to return to the place and situation. I am currently scanning these negatives so often something will pop-up in my photostream.

Living in the Netherlands I still miss the beautiful NZ landscapes but am learning to work with the challenges that face a city photographer. I try to capture urban landscapes – the diverse architecture styles(sometimes taken from unexpected angles), small pockets of nature, and the inhabitants of the city.

Being married to a musician means I get some really super photo opportunities - taking photos of established Dutch pop musicians of the '60's, '70's and '80's.

I believe that the photo is made the moment the shutter clicks, and I try to compose an image which captures the moment, the atmosphere, the experience and the ‘being there’ feeling (especially when making photos of music events). To this extent I rarely use Photoshop to enhance my photos.
I have just started experimenting with a Nikon D5000 after using a Canon Powershot G6 with interchangeable lens for eight years.
