The Gina Bachauer International Foundation is a Salt Lake City based non-profit organization that promotes excellence in piano performance. Under the artistic leadership of Paul Pollei, the Bachauer Foundation has a 33 year track record of providing opportunities for the world’s most outstanding pianists to perform for international prestige, prize money, and artistic recognition.

With a well-established reputation as an internationally recognized piano organization, the Bachauer Foundation sponsors competitions, festivals, concerts series, and educational activities rotating on a four-year cycle. The International Artists Piano Competition (for ages 19–32) will be held in June of 2010. The International Junior Piano Competition (ages 11–13), and International Young Artists Piano Competition (ages 14–18) will be held conjointly in 2012.

The Gina Bachauer International Piano Competitions began as the Brigham Young University Summer Piano Festival and International Competition, hosted by Brigham Young University from 1976 through 1980. The name of Gina Bachauer was given to the competition in honor of the great Greek pianist, who was a celebrated favorite of Utah audiences, having appeared with Maurice Abravanel and the Utah Symphony in concert during eight subscription concerts. In 1980 the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition relocated to Salt Lake City under the patronage of the Utah Symphony and in 1985 became an independent 501(c)(3) non–profit fine arts organization.
