I fancy myself a street shooter, I fancy myself kicking my ass for saying "fancy myself".

I want to take pretty, no make that beautiful shots of things around me as so many of my contacts do, I mean they make a lego on the floor look cool, or a tea bag, or a cupcake. I don't seem to have that in me, though I keep trying. I love street photography and I love my family and friends, that is mostly what you will see in my stream.

Since I'm currently doing a 365 project (Life in NYC) you will also see a few crappy cellphone shots taken as a desperate measure not to fall off the 365 wagon. Right there along side my Diane Arbus, Weegee wannabe shots, and please before you roll your eyes, the key word is "wannabe" which yes, I know is technically not a word.

EDIT: update 06/23/11 I fell off the 365 wagon along w/ some turnips.

I'm slowly and steadily working my way into wearing all black and being filled with angst all while looking down my nose at anyone that uses flash or shoots from the hip while taking street shots. I hope this butthead phase will soon pass. Please, if I start to wear a scarf and carry around earth colored camera satchels feel free to slap me. Because hello, I'm not a real photojournalist, I'm a mom, I'm married with two kids living in Queens, NYC who coaches little league and spends too much time processing photos to make them decent. So there, I'm outta the closet!
So I'm not the real deal, but I love it anyway, and I hope I keep at it because it's in me, like a disease, the kind that requires medication.

I'm off to shoot, because that's what I do.

"The well-written "about me" self-description above is an excellent indicator as to what you will find in Liz's photostream, both in pictures and the words that often accompany them. The level of energy, honesty, humor, and passion for what she does would be difficult to overstate. She has a wonderful sense of the decisive moment too. If you don't believe me, take a look at the photo I wish I had taken called "Color Coordination 113:365," among others. And how she manages to keep all the plates spinning on the various sticks she has in the air, while pursuing photography too, is a secret known only to mothers :-) Keep up the great work, Liz!"
