SLam is a hobbyist photographer at best.

My gear includes:
- Nikon D300 usually with Nikkor 18-200VR, 50mm, 70-200 VR 2.8, and Sigma 70-300mm APO
- Canon SD890IS

I usually avoid using a flash and favour natural lighting. Obviously I'll use one if lighting conditions absolutely require.

Besides the obvious family & friends photos, I typically like shooting:
- CosPlay (costume play)
- Air shows & air craft
- Car shows & automobiles
- reclaimed nature photos
- close-up shots of the horizon :P


Photos/collections I tend to dislike:
1) Foot amputation photos. You know the ones, where the feet are missing in a full body shot? My rule is... you shoot the knees, you shoot the feet!
2) Shots of the camera in a mirror, and nothing else.
3) Half sky portrait photos. The ones where the photo is centered on the person's face, but half the photo is uninteresting stuff above? Another rule of mine is... a camera is like a gun... aim for the torso. Never try a head-shot.
4) Kids photos of the kid on the toilet... I think that's only cute to the parent.
