Madeleine Stamer resides in Melbourne with her husband and two young daughters and dedicates her time to family, exhibiting and her freelance illustration business Little Circus Design. Madeleine’s folk infused style has been described as captivating meditations on life and death, nature and culture. Part tattoo, part pattern, her works take the eye on an excursion along a decorative, dark and highly idiosyncratic line. Her metaphoric style echoes themes found in Mexican folklore such as The Day of the Dead and traditional European folk tales. In the mid 1980’s Madeleine was involved in the emerging Melbourne underground graffiti and street art scene. She has continued to be driven by the street art movement which she notes as having a huge influence on her own personal art. Her distinctive hand drawn illustration and art is collected and commissioned internationally. Her work increasingly graces festival posters, album art, merchandise, publications and editorial work.
