Rule #1: You can't get the shot if you don't have a camera!

Why I do what I do:

Life is Beauty: To show beauty in everyday objects and events, natural or manmade. To show people the beauty they have in themselves through personal and creative photography, getting to know the person to get better and more unique character/personality photos. To capture a child in a moment that can be treasured forever, moments the average onlooker would overlook but are precious to a parent. These small moments make up a lifetime and I plan to enjoy every one, and help others see the joy I have by looking at my work. It’s a subtle reminder to all that life really is a beautiful thing, not to take for granted.

How I got to be here:

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY CAMERA MODELS: EX-Z750->P80->D5000; Years 2005-2010.

How I Began Taking Digital Photographs: After using my dad’s 35mm Minolta in high school for black and white prints, I got tired of the old technology though I loved the quality. My first digital camera, the Casio Exilim EX-Z750 ($400) was a gift for my birthday. (Actually the first was a Canon point and shoot which I promptly shattered the screen on so I don’t really count it in the list.) Little did I know where that would lead me…

Where Does One Begin?: Taking photos of everything I can find. Making subjects out of the mundane. My first favorite shot with my EX-Z750 was at IU Kokomo, in Kokomo, IN. I took a picture of a chair in black and white that was sitting in a waiting room for the financial aid officers. It expressed a lot more than just a chair. It showed boredom, monotony, manufacturing, and most of all-waiting for something to happen. If you’ve ever waited on financial aid to come through, you get the humor.

My photography reflects my life’s progress: Every photo, no matter how mundane, is a personal step in my self-actualization. I have become a more thoughtful and creative person, learning to slow down to take photographs of inconsequential details in the big scheme of things. This has also taught me a wider world-view, outside of internal self. I pulled myself out of a depression so bad by continuously expressing mundane beauty in my photos. Photos were a way to capture something normal, to appreciate the small details of life. This is my life philosophy now. Everything I see cannot be taken for granted but appreciated for its unique beauty.

As my tagline states, “Life is Beauty.”
