I offer a blanket apology, as I am not always able to acknowledge all the kind words or leave more lengthy comments. This guy photo 2 joyfully takes up most of my time outside of work...yet I want to make sure everyone knows I am deeply grateful for your, notes, faves and - especially - comments. So, a warm thank you to anyone who graciously takes the time to take a look at one of my pix. Take care...

I've been selling prints from the film shots, so just email me if something is of interest. Most of the film shots are optically printed onto Ilfochrome (the old Cibachrome), though some that needed some exposure correction were drum-scanned and are available as Lambda or Chromira optical prints onto Fuji Crystal archive paper. I don't have a web site...nor do I sell ink prints. But if you want something large that will be oh so purdy, ping me and we'll make a nice photographic print.

    coyrooster says:

"My introduction to surfwax was his towering image “Get to the point,” www.flickr.com/ph... and it was a fundamental clue to how he works ~~ not only with a camera, but also with the English language. If all the drops of water in an ocean are the same, then everyone on Flickr is the same too. But we know that isn’t so, and John is living proof. With his eye as a compass, surfwax charts his own course in Nature photography, eschewing trodden paths, and keeps his instincts trained on higher patterns for celestial navigation through the labyrinth of Flickr with 42 million users jammed in traffic of flat-tire imagery. As a nimble commentator, John’s wizardry with words is unsurpassed, and his heart produces insights that no one else imagines, including the photographer receiving his salute. I once told him in a note, “You are so (ellipsis) brilliant, it’s frightening at times.” Whatever the topic or challenge, from cyberspace to surfing, somehow surfwax can “get to the point” with blinding speed and authority. His grasp of aesthetics spans vast savannahs as gracefully as a cheetah, his wit won’t quit, and the standards he sets for his own photography are so stringent that weeks may turn to months before his next release as fans wait with bated breath. And yet he always comes across as a humble sort of soul. John harbors genius, and no other drop of water in the whole Flickr Ocean matches his makeup. Be baptized by John."

    Bachspics says:

"I agree with "fusion-of-horizons," John is a very generous man, even to those he hasn't met. Take a close look at his photostream, it just doesn't quit. Every one is a winner. John has an eye for beauty and is especially good with color saturation, lighting, exposure, and composition--all fundamental elements of good photography. I'm glad he has returned to the hobby after a long time away. He hasn't lost a thing. He will now bless us with his talent and work. Though we could wish for much more than we now have, we can look forward with fond anticipation to what is to come."
