I started photography in June 2009 and I'm really enjoying this next and long overdue artistic foray. Having been going full steam in systems and network engineering and management for the last many years, it's refreshing to finally pick something up that really engages my right-brain again.

I'm interested in making friends on either side of the lens, I'd love to try random or experimental things out with others to learn and grow as a photographer.

Fashion / Modelling

oh fabio! by J Eston

I'm very interested in artistic, editorial, and fashion photography. My experience here is limited but I'm always on the lookout for new models looking for portfolio work.

I'm always happy to step out to the other side of the lens as well, having a frame that allows me to scale a building or hang upside down from a tree with one arm can give some fun effects.

Symbolism

rabid chair by J Eston

I really enjoy trying to bring some symbolism to my still life. A story within a photograph, if you will. Sometimes half of the effort I put into a finished image is the title or the description of it. Usually I try to think of the story while I'm shooting, sometimes it doesn't come to me until I've started experimenting in Photoshop.

Inspiration

fiery sky by J Eston

I try to always have my camera with me, and if not I have, at the very least, my iPhone, to make sure that I can at least try to get some recording of those things out there that truly inspire me. In looking through my photostream I'm sure you'll quickly surmise that sunsets and painted skies are one of my great inspirations. I'm also a huge silhouette fan, trying to make my photos a study of both the form of the silhouette and the amazing gradation of a horizon.

The Funny Angle

drip by J Eston

Ever since I started shooting I find myself looking at perhaps mundane things a second time, often squatting down to see something completely differently than I would normally see it. I love shooting like this because the results always remind me to keep a fresh outlook on life, some things are worth a closer look and sometimes you can find beauty in something you otherwise wouldn't if you take the time to find it.
