Reading In Public's photostream
|
We're attempting to create a visual rest stop in this space, for anything related to reading in the wide open public. Send us your photos, of you, your family, your friends, reading in public. We'll gladly publish it all here, fully credited (of course), and we'll never republish your image(s) outside of our Flickr stream. Do leave us a note telling us where to pick up and what the captions and credits should say. You can also e-mail info[at]readinginpublic.com.
A note about our photostream: Please be respectful of the work you find here. The images come from various sources, and none of them should be taken from our photostream and republished elsewhere without written permission from the people who created them.
Thank you, we appreciate your understanding.
Thank you:

Reading In Public (RIP!) was formed to celebrate the written word by way of community performance in public spaces.
Project #6: Dining In Public
On December 2nd and 10th, 2011, Reading In Public will bring you a multicourse, free-range event exploring the connection between belly, mind and funny bone. Come join us for the exhibit which opens on the 2nd of December and our live event on Saturday December 10th, from 6-9pm, at Arts Obispo in San Luis Obispo, California. For more information please visit www.readinginpublic.com.
Project #5: Happy In Public
Held on Friday, January 7, 2011: Happy in Public. San Luis Obispo readers shared the words that make them happy.
Project #4: Typing In Public
Typing In Public was held in San luis Obispo on Saturday, May 15, 2010.
Project #3: Library!
Borrow a book to read in the park.
Library! is an abandoned newspaper rack, repurposed into an informal traveling book and culture exchange, a venue for creative readers who care that reading not become a lost art.
Readers of all ages will be able to find books, magazines, sketchbooks, or an actual piece of book art, and borrowers are encouraged to leave an item for lending. Each piece will have a library card documenting its travels. When a reader checks a piece out, they're asked to sign the card and leave those in a box located on top of the rack. We welcome creative annotation to all the art pieces, and we encourage personal notes in the books left by readers.
Project #2: You're looking at it :)
Project #1: On Saturday, August 1st, 2009, we held a one day event in San Luis Obispo, California, the first of many that we hope to do. We wheeled our Reading Chair, specially designed for the occasion, to various downtown locations, where assigned readers took turns sitting and reading. Our readers were people of all ages and walks of life who shared a passion not only for words, but for story telling. They chose their own reading materials and crafted their own performances.
