I have collected/hoarded/stored old stuff all my life (so quite a while then....) - born into a life of secondhand and driven by a sense of thriftiness all results in a lot of old bits and bobs. But - importantly - it is used and used and used. To us it is not vintage but home!
Can I also state here that I am miffed by my photos being pasted all over the place - particularly Pinterest - I was brought up to be polite and always ask before using someone else's things. I also pay for my flickr account so this is where I collect my photos and then someone else posts them for free. When I trace a photo back to the person posting it I merrily find that they do not allow sharing of their images without permission but find that it is ok to use mine. Mmmm. Manners maketh human

Just testing out my blog - not quite sure what to write yet but I am sure that I will get into the swing of it!

I find people who do have any photos to share a little disturbing - this is what Flickr is for! I have decided, sadly, to block people who do not share their photos as I assume you are sinister and up to no good!! Oh dear!!

Update: Just thought that I would add that making/collecting/hoarding is not my full time occupation! When I first started the world of work (school jobs not withstanding) I worked in operating theatres. Loved that so went and did a degree in nursing studies. Became a sister in intensive care for several years - loved that too. Became a community sister for Brixton - loved that too. Missed the fizz of critical care so got my dream job - transplant co-ordinator for the South East of England - loved that job very much indeed (very, very stressful and not much sewing done at the time of my life!). Children arrived (love them!). Trained as reflexologist. Left London (after twenty years..) Worked for NHS direct - did not love that job so much. Went to teach at a local college - loved the teaching, not so fond of managment. Trained as a teacher. Trained as a gardener. Went to work for a university - love that job. I love teaching anatomy and physiology most of all - what's not to like!

I love learning (I am the three degrees! Tee hee, see what I did there), I am in interested in many, many things (when studying for my first degree I took some more GCSEs in my first year because there wasn't enough for me to learn - oh dear how painful was I). What you see on Flickr is just a bit of what I am interested in. I like to learn a new fact/detail every day. I am a bit obsessive about facts and detail - I make lists of things to learn and know about. Oh dear I am now sounding stranger by the minute.

I am proud to say that I have saved and helped change the lives of some of my fellow hu/mans - from being on the cardiac arrest team, to helping people at the most difficult times of their lives, to enabling students to reach their full academic potential and go full steam ahead with their own careers. Ta dah! Bows gracefully
