Photography, in my opinion is based on SEEING.
Seeing is not like looking. Seeing is looking in a higher degree, more like observing. Unlike observing like a birdwatcher (for example) my way of seeing/observing is much faster.

There is so much to be seen. And so many people don't SEE at all. Most humans just look and oversee so many interesting things: a glimpse of light, a reflection, a little movement, sun or no sun, lightchanges, textures, nature, wind, water...
All-day ordinary things looking different by looking at them and seeing them through the eye of a camera

I always have a camera at hand. No matter where I am or where I go.
At home, while I'm on a walk or on my bike. When I drive a car, when I go shopping, when I'm visiting friends... everywhere.

So, every time when I SEE something more or less interesting I feel the urge to take a photograph of that subject, that scene, that scenery, that...
When I walk, most times I picture these subjects walking-on. However my walking most times is a kind of speed(y)walking, I try not to stop or to slow down, because in that case I'll never reach my destination. So, I take my pictures while keeping on walking.
It might be clear that when I'm riding my bike or driving a car I do stop when I like to take a picture.

Even at home, reading, internetting, sitting in a chair, I always SEE things worth wile photographing.

And then, when my memorysticks are full, I load all the pictures into my Apple MacBook Pro and open them in Adobe Photoshop. I look at them and decide which picture I delete and which not. The pictures I find okay I rename and store (temporarely) on the MB Pro's HD and on an external HD. On top of that, every month I also make back-ups on CD-R/DVD.

Before I send my pictures to Flickr, I work them in Photoshop: cropping - levels - shadow/highlights - sharpening - contrast - color correction - saturation - whatever I feel like doing to or with my photographs.

I do not have a specialisation in photographing. I never go somewhere on a photographic expedition. Going to a place is a purpose on itself. Photographing is part of my journey, part of my life, part of my journey through life.

Having read all this, you'll understand how happy I was when digital photography came available: from that moment on, I was able to develope my way of living/seeing/photographing being freed from costs for film, developing and printing. My photographic life and way of living has changed a lot... and will be changing as times go on (I hope).

I wish you all a happy and SEEING life!
