The history and purpose of my camera collection:

When my collection began, I did not have a big income. Also, I was somewhat of a photographic tyro. I had this hunch that a $20 thrift store camera might perform better than a Digital SLR that was beyond my means at that time. My primary need is/was to shoot "pin-up-art". [Indoor photography]

Phase one---Fast lens cameras. I was on the right track, however, I did not know how to use them. Which led me to....
Phase two---1980's autofocus compact flash. The problem of focusing and exposure was solved, however, 1980's compact flash cameras have a weak inboard flash, resulting in underexposed indoor shots.
Phase three---toy cameras. I thought that I could make "artsy shots" that would look interesting. A total failure.
Phase four---"pretty" chrome age viewfinder cameras. Viewfinder cameras worked well because my photography often requires the use of scale focus. However, indoor photgraphy requires a fast lens.
Phase five---early autofocus superzoom SLR's. The autofocus and exposure were good, but the early superzooms have a weak inboard flash with no hotshoe. Moreover, the lenses are not as good as a fast lens.
The final phase---phase one redux. With the skill I acquired thru my collection, I realized that my original hypothesis was correct---that a $20 fast lens 35mm film camera will outperform a $2000 Digital SLR.
That said, what do I use for my "workhorse camera"? A $350 Digital SLR.

Along the way I learned a lot of things. Like how to repair cameras. Also, I learned of the tremendous amount of light that is necessary for indoor photography.
