i was fortunate/ unfortunate enough to start my entire photography experience in the digital realm, with an "old" canon a20, 2MP, 3X optical zoom point and shoot. that was my first penalty-free ingress (i.e. no film costs) into the world of the third eye-- seeing and not just looking.
the equipment is just a tool and like all tools is only as good as the one who wields it.
some other cameras i've used:
- nikon minolta dimage
- canon eos digital rebel (the original)
- canon 20d
- canon 5d
- canon 1d mk III
- nikon d700
and i've been shooting with the nikon ever since. i think it's the best camera on earth and i can't imagine how they'd make a better one.
my day job is engineering (in the space-aerospace industry), but my passion has always been in the arts. i one day hope to combine these left-right hemispherically divergent disciplines into a synergistic cornucopia of goodness.
enjoy the show,
Simon

"always at a distance and completely concerned. there is a agile tenderness, a withdrawn affection, and still maybe, a hidden receptiveness in your approach. there is not just photography, there is a methodology"

TheGiantVermin says:
"Si uses his beautiful eyes and terrifying lenses to take us into a microscopic world where things are alive and throbbing with anguish. Colours. Tears. Thorn skin. All this is terribly exciting for some reason."
