Born in Oxford, England, my wife Sharon and I moved to Altea, Spain in 1985 and spent 18 years there before finally coming to Canada in 2003.
We currently live in a log house in the Okanagan.
Having always been interested in Photography I now have the time to dedicate to this hobby.
My faithful photographers assistant namely my wife does all the research, descriptions, tags and responds to any comments.

I would like to thank all those who take the time to comment and invite, feedback is always appreciated. We are amazed at the wealth of talent that there is on Flickr, the friendliness of others it only makes us strive harder.

This is my most commented photo to date.
NORTHERN RED-SHAFTED FLICKER........ THANK YOU TO ABW GALLERY I AM TRULY HONOURED.

IT IS CURRENTLY BEING EXHIBITED AT THE HAMBLETON FINE ARTS GALLERIES IN KELWONA BC CANADA ALONG WITH 3 OTHER PIECES OF MY WORK. I HAVE CHOSEN TO EXHIBIT THIS PIECE ON A 6X4FT SHEET OF METAL.
A PROUD DAY

My latest works, while photographic in conception have evolved to incorporate new technologies, like putting the images on metal, that have not often been done before so I am able to stretch the medium and find a niche that not many have explored. This use of iconic and sometimes dramatic imagery used with the metal as the substrate creates an image that will leave you awestruck and sometimes even in tears. The image floats on a somewhat reflective surface that not only conveys the image of the subject but also the feeling of life that is not always easy to relate on paper. The translucence of the ink lets light pass through it and then back out to help the iridescence of the colours live in light.

"I think........ if I had to write a one word that discribes Roys photography i would call it "Pristine".
He has a fabulous talent....... with a style that is so clear that it is almost technical ...like a surgeons illustrator.
There is an exactness to his work ...a sharpness ........ and an intensity that is so impressive that you just stare and realize you are looking at greatness.
He knows light ........he understands the capture ..he understands his camera ...............he is a true professional and I count myself lucky as he is a respected supporter of my work........and this validates me at times as his comments mean something to me ...........as he "knows" and his respect............ and gauge has merrit.
He always has the time to say something special....... and he makes you feel that your work is warranted and that it is appreciated. He is one of those photographers to watch and follow as his stuff is quite incredible .........whether its Bees or differant species of birds ...........or even the incredible interactions of smaller faster birds is so so impressive.........Roy your work is over the top and its an honour to know you.....and its so nice to deal with you here on flickr Island....Howard"
