I'm a digital sports photography hack who is determined to improve.

I have a special interest in photographing power sports; that is sports with a high level of strength COMBINED with high levels of speed.
I competed in Olympic weightlifting from 1970 to 1997. It is IMO the ultimate power sport. (The sport of powerlifting is a misnomer).

Therefore once a year I've covered the World Weightlifting championships. Olympic weightlifting is very misunderstood in North America. The lay public think of these lifters as the circus strongmen. However the demands are much more than strength; included are flexibility,fast reflexes, coordination, and balance. Equally important are the mental attributes of intense focus and concentration.

I have just covered the European championships in Italy (Apr2008). Next up will be Korea 2009 Worlds..
