I have been invited by my dear friend Arrano to tell 10 things about myself that more or less define me. I will give it a try without pretending to be complete.

1. I always follow my heart. I have given up a brilliant career as a manager to live my love with the son of a poor fisherman.

2. I am a mother of two sons and a daughter and I love my children above all other things.

3. The choices that I have made in my life have not made me rich in material things, but then I believe that material things do not make people happy. I believe that a good health is far more important. I have learned that we do not need much more than the people we love and care for, a roof over our heads and a meal on the table. I do realize though that I am blessed to own a house, so that this roof is secure. Food on the table can be found. I have learned to bake my own bread and the sea is full of fish.

4. I believe in the things I do and the choices I make. I defend them and fight for them at all costs. I do not regret the choices I have made in my life and would make them again if I had to.

5. I find joy in the small things of life. Talking to a friend, a smile of my children or just looking at beautiful things can make me happy.

6. I am not a city woman. I was born and raised in a small village. I love nature and all its beauty.

7. I believe in God and that there is more between Heaven and Earth, but I do not believe in the church as institution. My mother died of cancer when I was young. After the priest told me that this was a punishment of God, I have stopped going to church. I only go to church for baptisms, funerals and marriages and to lit candles for the people I love. I believe that God is loving, not punishing.

8. I love animals and talk to them. I am convinced that they can understand me. I believe that in communication feelings are much more important than the actual language. Every mother understands her child without the use of words.

9. I hate routine. It makes me afraid to wake up one day and find that life has passed without having lived it. I like new experiences and to try out new things. I do not live by the rules and cannot work on command.

10. I do not have the technical skills to be a great photographer nor the talent to be an artist. I guess that makes me something in between. I cannot create from nothing and always need a photo. But I do have eyes and can recognize a good image when I see it.
