We often think of photographs as instants in time, moments captured. One of the things I notice most in Cheridan's images is how often they bring together contrasting states or ideas - solidity and fluidity, permanence and the fleeting, design and imperfection, the strong and the fragile ... So many of her pictures are visual intersections, where two worlds meet, and a fascinating visual dialogue ensues. I also admire her expert compositional eye, with its particular love of edges and corners, details cut off and generous areas of quiet, negative space. Often I can't quite articulate why the images work so well, but they do, again and again. This particular selection is bathed in the gorgeous range of warm greens, blues, and dirty golds which feel to me her signature palette.
