I’m funny and love (particularly “dry” or ironic) humor and laughter. There’s nothing I enjoy more than an evening with good friends unless it is “cuddling up” (and more) before a fireplace with my lady. Bit of a “homebody;”

I like to think I’m fairly decent looking. Not too long ago I had a couple “twenty something” girls tell me I was “cute.”Just being nice to an “old guy”? Maybe. Good for the ego though.

I like (reasonably well behaved) kids and regret never having had any (reasons detailed below.) I’ve “adopted” the children (and now grandchildren) of a close friend up in Atlanta. They can always count on “Uncle Bryan” to remember ‘em at Christmas etc.

My idea of a great place to live is a large log home in the woods within an hour of a good sized city; got an eye on 20-50 acres in the hills outside Knoxville Tennessee (Like Florida, no confiscatory state income tax. The federal one is bad enough.) Since I work from a home office, I can actually be anywhere within a few hours of a major airport; Atlanta and Charlotte only a few hours away. Great place to hike, shoot, and observe nature as well. For the right lady though, I’d be open to areas of Florida far from the tax addicted “People’s Republic of Broward” (the Ft. Lauderdale area.)

I work hard at everything I do including keeping in great shape (6'2", 215 lbs) and appreciate people similarly self disciplined. Wasted my time on a BA and MA in history years ago. I’m still interested in intellectual pursuits and am active in Republican-libertarian philosophy, economics, and politics; not a fanatic though.

I’m a proud “eccentric”; don’t give a damn what others (apart from my lover and close friends) think of me I value HONOR as the highest virtue and loathe pretense, dishonesty, and dissimulation; pretty “old fashioned" Social climbing and country club, yacht club, or “jet set” types repel me. I’m also turned off by those who’s conversation seems limited to the coming and goings of various “celebrities” I’ve likely never even heard of or something equally fatuous. National Inquirer readers, please do look elsewhere.

I'm a recovered alcoholic (22 years) and am active in a twelve step program. Thus I don't drink or use drugs. I've no problem being around moderate drinkers, but draw the line at drunkenness and drug use. I also don't gamble and am very little interested in "nightlife" apart from dining or the symphony-opera. Oh, I also love country, folk, klezmer, and jazz music
