ShelterBox instantly responds to earthquake, volcano, flood, hurricane, cyclone, tsunami or conflict by delivering boxes of aid.
Each box supplies an extended family with a tent and lifesaving equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless, for up to six months. The contents are tailored depending on the nature and location of the disaster, with great care taken sourcing every item to ensure it is robust enough to be of lasting value.
At the heart of every ShelterBox is a ten-man tent. It is custom made and is designed to withstand extreme temperatures, high winds and heavy rainfall. In addition to the tent, we supply a range of other essential equipment such as thermal blankets and insulated ground sheets, critical in areas where temperatures plummet at nightfall. We also provide mosquito nets where malaria is prevalent, and water purification which is fundamental to survival and disease prevention.
Every ShelterBox bears its own unique number so as a donor you can track your box all the way to its recipient country, via www.shelterbox.org. Highly trained ShelterBox Response Team volunteers distribute boxes on the ground, working closely with local organizations, international aid agencies and Rotary clubs worldwide.
Since its inception in 2000, ShelterBox has firmly established itself at the forefront of international disaster relief; the charity has provided shelter, warmth and dignity following over 80 disasters, in more than 50 countries.
