"Be still, feel the breath of Mother Nature..." This line from a Pueblo song, resonates with me. I love to stop in the middle of a hike and just take everything in... the breeze, the scent of the forest, the light filtering through trees, the sound of water as it rushes past boulders or trickles through a brook... I love to close my eyes in a garden and enjoy its perfume; to listen to the language of birds; to feel the sun on my face and experience joy at simply being alive...

Photography has been a life-long passion since I was given a camera at the age of nine but the traditional roles of women put the photographer out of the picture for decades. Now, in my fifties, I am delving into the art with a whole new sense of purpose, loving every minute of it and learning more and more as I go along.

An issue I find amusing but perplexing is finding one of my photos faved by someone I don't know and there's no accompanying comment. Maybe there's a reason this happens, but I can't imagine why... So, don't be shy! I'm friendly and I'm nice. Leave a comment. I usually reciprocate!

Each time I log onto Flickr, Vivian’s photostream is one of my first stops (second only to mine, of course). Whether it’s a simple but elegant image of moss growing on a fence post, the warm glow of a Christmas candle or a candid photo of her husband taking a well deserved nap on public benches, Vivian’s photos always amaze me. If she isn’t professionally trained, she’s profoundly gifted (maybe both but for certain the latter either way).

Although I’ve never met her in person, I have no doubt Vivian is the life of a party. She’s quick witted, intelligent, gorgeous (can I say that without getting in trouble?), and always fun to visit through Flickr.
