Chasin' Butterfly Photography's photostream

This is an offshoot of my other photostream, with the purpose of highlighting my favorite photographs. Since my other account now has well over 1000 photos now, I wanted a place where my better stuff was more streamlined and organized.

Why do I call this photo journal Chasin' Butterfly Photography? Easy...butterflies are my favorite subjects to capture. All this got started one day as I was walking the banks of the Cumberland River in Nashville, TN...and in front of me, flew a monarch butterfly. It seemed to taunt me to take its photo, and well...soon I found myself chasing butterflies for the sake of advancing my new-found photo habit. I obviously don't limit myself to just butterflies, but I shoot what makes me happy.

So what the hell do I do with the rest of my time?

I am a doctor, the academic kind, currently pursuing studies here in the field of pharmacology and toxicology. I do photography just for fun, serious fun I suppose.

70-200 mm 4.0L IS
50 mm 1.4
100 mm 2.8 macro
28-135 mm 3.5-5.6 IS (not really a bad lens in spite of its specs and price)

I have had some work appear in special places, including a photochoreographed showcase by the Nashville Chamber Orchestra to a work by Don Hart (hope to see an album one day soon--please, please release Concertino for Two Mandolins, Guitar and Strings!!), and in the Capture Music City project. This photo, affectionately called Country Kitty II, is featured on the opening page of the Pets and Animals chapter:
