I live in New Zealand and have recently moved to living full-time in a house-bus. Having no fixed abode and being more or less constantly on the move means that you meet a lot of new people and scenes - a photographers dream.

I'm an absolute beginner at photography that goes beyond snapshots of the family at picnics, but enjoying the challenge to see the world from a different perspective. Subject matter is fairly random at the moment. Just whatever catches my eye. There is a wealth of image/imagery out there to explore. At 50+, I have a whole, new world of learning and development ahead of me.

I have recently upgraded from a somewhat elderly Nikon Coolpix 4500 ( 4 megapixels/4 X optical zoom) to a Nikon D-SLR - the D80. This has expanded my learning horizon hugely and I am beginning to venture beyond the auto and scene mode settings into the challenges of manual. Learning the more technical aspects of photography is a challenge that I'm enjoying, but there is so much to remember.

At the same time I'm concentrating on developing better composition, developing an eye for what makes a pleasing image.

Same for image manipulation. I'm gradually building very elementary skills at bog-basic level, using Photoshop. Maybe the sojourn in the bus will give me more time to get my head around some of the techniques I see here.

Comments on my pix would be welcome. Please tell me why some work and why others don't.

Go well,
Stoney.
