Ever since a child, I used to draw on blueprints and schematics my dad would bring from work.
The bigger the paper, the better.

In school, I took every art class Available, Excelling at pen&ink
During middle school, I picked up in the library the book "Visions of Poe", poetry and stories from Edgar A. Poe. The poetry was dark, sad, full of sorrow and emotions (yes, Gothic.) But what amazed me even more, were the black and white pictures by the Photographer Simon Marsden, and how they compounded to the feeling of the poetry itself. I tried some of the pictures in pen&ink. From then on, I was hooked.

Being a kid with no money for photography equipment. I suppressed my interest in photography until the Digital camera surge.

Eventually went back to school and took a photography class in Houston Community College. The teacher was Kristy Peet (I recommend her class in HCC and www.hcponline.org/ ) and a love for Film was found. The work that is necessary to produce a print is like painting a masterpiece, very gratifying.

A few months later I came to find a Canon XT digital camera for a price too good to pass up. After that, I opened this Flickr page.

Enjoy.

    Edouard Dubiton says:

"Amazing attention to detail, creative lighting, and above all, the ability to use the natural lighting that is available to him are just some of Mauro’s noticeable traits as a photographer. His ability to capture the essence of a moment without interfering with a subject is remarkable. He is not afraid to take advantage of his own resourcefulness to achieve what he is after in a photograph."
