JAZZ90.1/Big Road Blues, Water Street Music Hall & The House of Guitars Present Hot Blues For The Homeless... A Tribute To Son House To Benefit Catholic Family Center's Francis Center

Mississippi Delta bluesman Eddie "Son" House who lived in Rochester three decades, will be getting some "overdue recognition" at a tribute concert on Sunday, June 7. According to Dan Beaumont, associate professor in the religion and classics department at the University of Rochester, who has just completed a book about Son House called Preachin' the Blues. "Son House made music that changed music," says Beaumont. "He was a primary influence on country blues legends Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters who called him 'the King'—and it doesn't get much better than that."

The concert benefits Catholic Family Center’s Francis Center, a homeless shelter for men in Rochester NY. Hot Blues for the Homeless is a community driven effort to provide entertainment and raise money for the Francis Center. This event provides an opportunity for the music community to share their talents while raising the awareness of the needs in our community. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the men in crisis served by the Center.
