We, mari-ten, are a married couple living in Japan (Mie Prefecture).

We have just started using Flickr in 2009, but have over 5000 pictures that we are uploading in chronological order dating back to 2006 and are still about 1.5 years behind. One day we'll be all caught up, but there's a lot of organizing, reviewing, tagging, and captioning to do before that happens.

We use Flickr primarily as a last-line backup service of our memories but will make our better shots available for public viewing.The vast majority of our pictures are from Japan.

Having lived in the Japanese countryside for 4+ years with ample local travel opportunities, we have both taken many pictures and have a growing interest in photography as Japan is an absolutely amazing place to take in the beauty of the world.

We are very amateur photographers - we don't have serious SLR camera equipment and we don't edit photos much (though trying our hand at it more and more recently). The main aim of our picture-taking is to capture the memory and mood of that moment so that we can look back at it years later and remember what we were thinking and feeling at that exact point in time.
