i am an artist.

i never used to feel comfortable calling myself an artist. i don't know why, but i never felt like one even though i spent most of my childhood compulsively drawing on everything i came in contact with (desks, books, clothes, other people).

I left home when i was 17 and spent most of 2001-2008 hitchhiking around the country and then after that lived in vehicles for a while, still traveling. I've joined a couple DIY circuses, learned to play a few different instruments, and met more amazing and interesting people than I can keep track of.

I stopped making art when I was on the road and for years I focused more on music, but now I'm back.

These days I've settled down a bit. I'm back in Vermont living with my mama in the most beautiful and serene place I know. It's kinda strange to have a house and so much stuff, but without it I would never have been able to make the art that I make! I've finally accepted that all I can do in this world is make art all the time or I'll go insane. So here goes!

I make dolls, fascinators, whatever strikes my fancy and cheap art!! (for those of you who wish you knew what cheap art is, check out the cheap art manifesto by bread and puppet: www.aisling.net/bus/cheapart.htm)

All my dolls are completely handmade from thrift store or donated fabrics and they're filled with sand.

My dream is to make dolls for kids. I love them as an art form, but it makes me sad to see dolls that don't get played with. I love to make commission pieces, too. It's a lot of fun to stretch my creative taffy by making dolls to other people specifications, rather than my own.
