"I feel as a poet who takes pictures and not as a photographer who writes poetry!"

besides: I am a father of seven children (4 girls, 3 boys by three woman) from little Anna: born 2004, to my oldest son: Sascha: born 1965, ...I turned 70 in dec. 2010 and had a 2 months exhibition at the public library here at Oldenburg i.H. as retrospective of 35 years of "pfotopoesie" /photo-poetry" with good responds in the local press "Lübecker Nachrichten" with: ""A life long work in images and poetry". After a personal crises, therapy, seperation etc. I am back writing and working on several manuscripts between travel-diaries, zen, art, religion/philosphy, poetry, and childrenbooks - and - open for lectures, exhibitions, guestteaching etc.

last but not least:
nothing to compare, but I agree with
Nadar's views on photography
In 1857, when establishing his right before a tribunal to use the name "Nadar" he made the following observation:

"The theory of photography can be taught in an hour; the first ideas of how to go about it in a day. What can't be taught... is the feeling for light - the artistic appreciation of effects produced by different...sources; it's the understanding of this or that effect following the lines of the features which required your artistic perception.

What is taught even less, is the immediate understanding of your subject - it's this immediate contact which can put you in sympathy with the sitter, helps you to sum them up, follow their normal attitudes, their ideas, according to their personality, and enables you to make not just a chancy, dreary cardboard copy typical of the merest hack in the darkroom, but a likeness of the most intimate and happy kind...."

"We don´t make a photograph just with a camera; we bring to the act of photography all the books we have read, the movies we have seen, the music we have heard, the people we have loved." by Ansel Adams
"Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution." (Ansel Adams)

„The responsibility of the artist is not to give answers. It is to ask questions.“
– Robert Wilson

hans j. knospe*

born 1940 at Freren/Emsland , youth in Krefeld/Rhineland, Germany,
artist of “photopoetry” / poet - with special love for haiku /
author / editor / lecturer / guestteacher / Bahá´i since 1983

i go along the beach
for miles
hour after hour
day after day
-
i don´t think...
i go along the beach.
*
this is night
this is light and warmth
now is life
*
sharing conversations
like the beauty of silence
of cherry blossoms
*
a silent forest
seldom is a man´s speech
so clear and consistent
*
serenity means
a way to new beginnings
the core is visible
*
towering clouds
mountains in the sunlight
lonesome hights
*
a morning walk
resounds in my body
until evening
*
the inner clock
tells me the best time -
you never come to late

    Jeff Woodyard says:

"Sometimes the Flickr world shows us the places where others have crossed our paths in the analog world. It was just this case with Hans and myself. We both fell in love with a place and some specific people in that place, but missed each other by a year or two in the early 80's. Then in 2010 while I was reminiscing and browsing flickr I found photos that I could well have taken of my friends at the places we spent time. Hans and I have become fast friends and have been able to give each other a boost even tho we have yet to meet in person."

    KlausKommoss says:

"I recently saw an unusual picture on flickr of a guy who looked like Reinhold Messner (the famous mountain climber). It turned out to be Hans, and he turned out to be something like a soul mate, not only because he’s from my old home country.
He is a wonderful poet, obviously an artist in many fields, clearly a man who lives his life with his senses and his heart wide open. In his pictures I see how he is reaching out and exploring everything. Like me, he once traveled in a hippie van, searching for a self and finding everything else instead – I think. I feel a warm kinship to Hans – maybe we’ll meet one day…"

"Hans- I truly love to look at his stream he has so much to share with others, not just through his pictures but his words and knowledge as well.
When I look at his photos I see a loving and caring father. Each of his photos are taken as though he is taking in every minute of his children's lives before they grow up , which is how each parent should be.
Hans, I look forward to each and every one of your photos everyday! Thank you!"
