My love for photography began years ago back in high school when on a whim, decided to take a course in photography. I knew nothing about the process of making images and when we got our supplies list the first thing I did when I got home was open up the box of photographic paper and stared at the blank, white sheets. I did not realize until the next class that the paper was light sensitive and therefore ruined most of the sheets in the box by opening them in broad daylight.
Needless to say I was mesmerized by the chemical photographic process. Projecting a negative in an enlarger and then watching the image magically appear on the paper in the developer bath.
I ended up studying commercial photography at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI and went on to start a small studio with a fellow student. The stresses of the business of 'having to make a living' at photography got the best of my creativity and I became more involved in digital imaging and web design, which is now what I do to make a living.
It is now years later and I have the bug to find myself again as a photographer on my own terms. I haven't really found my own style yet, still experimenting and keeping an open mind. That is what intrigues me so much about Flickr, the amazing diversity in talent and I hope to learn as much as possible from others who share the same passion of fine art image making.

nlwirth says:
"I am always surprised when a photographer as talented as Jeff has no testimonials, but at least I get the opportunity to be the first to say a few words about how wonderful his work is. For me, and most anyone who dabbles in monochrome photography, the greatest challenge and satisfactions come from finding that precarious balance between tones and composition. Jeff, who primarily works with long exposures, always seems to find that wonderful, sometimes elusive balance. Anyone who takes a swim through his stream will be rewarded with a fine collection of carefully created images that evoke dreams, a poetic sensibility, and a Zen-like silence. Do yourself a favor and sift through the beautiful silence of the mists, bridges, piers, rocks and other structures that span the landscapes of his photography."
