I have been on a LONG photo technology journey that has led to me going back to the basics. I went back to the simple camera set up. I realize now after buying my first film camera (CANON AV-1 1979) that there is SO much pampering that digital SLR's do for the photographer these days that it leaves little for the photographer to be proud about (just my friendly opinion). Shooting film on an old camera, studying the History of photography and the many of old famous photographers has lead me to my true LOVE for photography, and, ....... that's ME, the photographer.

I caught myself worrying about how I looked and what gear I had so much, that I couldn't take photographs the way I used to when I was just starting and had a simple and affective setup. With the BIG SLR I felt that I could NEVER get candid shots where the subject/person didn't even know I was there, maybe that's something you could master in time BUT it was just getting to the point were I would think to myself and say "this is not me" "I don't want to be showy" " I don't want to walk in to a room and have people look at me and think, Oh, hey, look at him! he must be a PRO or something". :)

I have been inspired by what started the History of photography. Where someone could almost take a point and shoot and make a Masterpiece. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE all the New technology!! BUT I love to hate it too. I find myself every year wanting the NEW or get the feeling that I need that New feature, it will help me in the field.

What helped me a little in having this epiphany, was the fact that I lost my Job too :) :( . 5 months after loosing my job and not having work led to me selling TON'S of camera equipment I loved. Now I'm no PRO photographer mind you and I'm only three years in to photography but having this all happen, I wouldn't change a thing. My Love for photography has grown Leaps and Bounds and my standard for high end equipment is now lowered greatly.

Joining Flicker has been a LONG time coming! I have been looking at ALL the wonderful work here and ALL the great advice seen from the outside, (that I have used in my 3-years of photography) now I have decided, I want to jump in here and work on my photography in its New form.

Simplicity, Basics, Inspiration, and the Photographer........ Me.
