I am a professional graphic designer who lives in San Francisco, USA by way of Sevilla, Spain. My work as a graphic designer has undoubtedly influenced how I see the world, and will continue to do so. I find it impossible to walk past a bus shelter ad or a billboard without deconstructing its message or its use of typography. Most people would prefer to tune it out. I look at how the type was kerned.

I sometimes enjoyed film photography in the past, but for the poor art student that I was, it was prohibitively expensive to experiment with the medium, and the darkroom was always daunting and laborious. Other photographers might say the same about Photoshop, but when my creative process suddenly came with an Undo key, I was transformed. Now it was possible to try a variety of permutations and effects in minutes, or discard them all and start all over. You might say I approached photography from the other way around. Computers and the tools of desktop publishing facilitated the process and made experimentation possible, but I wouldn't be able to compose a shot or refine what I see in post-processing without my academic background in fine arts and my professional training in graphic design.

I am hardly a technician, nor am I a gear snob. I used a Canon P&S for years, and 99% of my images were taken with my pocket camera. To me, the biggest thrill is taking a so-so shot, Photoshopping the sh*t out of it, and creating a finished image I wouldn't mind hanging on my wall. I'm still discovering my affinities, so I just shoot what I like.

I invite you to check out my gallery of Before & After images and see for youself.

Hey Flickrenos,

Thanks for adding me to your list of Contacts. I'm honored! I've met some amazing photographers here, both amateur and pros, and I continue to learn from your techniques and compositions. It's the reason I joined Flickr.com in the first place.

However, if you don't have any photos to share with me, or your photos are all private, I don't see a reason why I should add you to my circle of Contacts. No offense, it's just "office policy."

Thanks!

"If you are a Photo Shop, Lightroom, and digital manipulation fan you have to visit Ultrapop Design's Photostream.
She has very neat samples of how to turn a boring picture into an ultrapop one!
She is fun, talented, and a techno savvy who is not afraid of sharing her knowledge of the tricks and secrets to this 'technobabble' stuff, as she calls it!"
