What is TwentseWelle A universal story modelled on Twente

TwentseWelle tells the story of how people came into the region of Twente, just after the last ice-age and established themselves here. The environment, the hunt, gathering, farming, development of the countryside into towns and regions, the industrial revolution, the workforce, innovation, technology and social communities are the most important subjects covered. In this respect the Epic Story (Het Grote Verhaal) shows you the evolution which arose out of interaction between environment and mankind. TwentseWelle demonstrates an evolution that is occurring all over The Netherlands as well as abroad. Thus, a universal story modelled on Twente.

The large collection of natural-historical and cultural-historical objects fit into the Epic Story and are displayed in the open depot, one of the largest showcases in Europe.
The Epic Story is set in context by means of (inter) active presentations. Different
and distinctive dioramas unite with worldwide themes such as water, individual characteristics and religion.
