Tim Poulton's photostream
|
My name is Timothy Poulton, I'm a photographer living in Sydney. The vast majority of my photographs are panoramic landscapes from the east coast of Australia, though I also love taking macro shots of insects.
One of my images, ‘Shocking Bondi’ won the 2009 International Aperture Landscape Awards. It depicts a series of lightning strikes during a storm that lashed Bondi Beach in 2008. My image ‘Purple Rain’ depicting a jumping spider (salticidae) won the Australian Museum’s Up Close & Spineless competition, and was displayed in museums nationally in 2011.
I’ve since gone on to win many other accolades including Nature Photography 2011, Shutterbug 2009, EPSON international Pano Award 2011, IPA Lucie Award and the 2010 Carl Zeiss Photo Contest, and have built up a dedicated following on Flickr.
It is truly gratifying when people appreciate my work, I am so inspired by the beauty of our planet and it is incredibly fulfilling when I can share my inspiration with others.
My passion for visual imagery dates to the early 90s when I joined forces with my soul mate Katie Little to launch a graphic design business One Of A Kind Media Group. It is now a business working for famous fashion labels, music festivals, shopping centres and retail outlets. As work and family life got more hectic I was naturally drawn to the solitude and peace of nature, and fell in love with landscape photography, particularly the changeability and variation of the sky – probably because I was indoors looking at a computer most of the time!
I share a passion for photography with my brother Peter Anthony and in 2010 we started a business together, Leading Lines Photography to pursue our dream of traveling the world exploring nature’s hidden realms. I have started a blog tim-poulton.blogspot.com to share my techniques and intend to set up a photography school in the near future as well.
My other passion is motor sport. I race in the Australian GT Championship, sponsored by Bundaberg Rum and won the 2008 Championship. I'm also the Australian Ambassador for Graham London, another sponsor and the finest watch makers on the planet.

Justin Smith - Photography says:
"Landscape photography is a thing where there are so many people doing it that it's difficult to be distinguishable from the crowd. Tim has a pretty good hold on the extremely wide panorama niche. There are loads of panoramas on Flickr, of course, but I think many people become so fascinated with the idea of of doing one that they forget about composition and balanced lighting. Not Tim. His shots display that kind of perfect lighting and color you see in many other popular landscape photographers' works, but with the addition of the panorama it's easy to see that his work is in a special category of its own."
