Cat Faery Shari - View my recent photos on Flickriver

I'm a country girl at heart, so I love taking photos of all things in the natural world (animals, landscapes, the ocean, etc.). I could spend hours and hours taking photos. I love exploring out-of-the-way places and finding that magical shot. I love finding little drops of dew sparkling in the sunlight, or a jet trail streaking across the sky. I love barbed wire and broken down fences. I love the lights of a sports field at twilight. I love a bird on a wire, or a bunch of them chirping to each other. I love the vineyards near our home, especially in the Fall. I love the crunch of leaves under my feet. I love taking walks with my husband, on the Pier or on a dusty country road (and now I love it with our baby daughter too!). I love the color of the sky after the sun has just set. I look for insects wherever I go. Also, sheep. I adore sheep. I love exploring little, run-down antique shops. I love the beach. I love the sound of huge waves crashing on the shore. I dream of going to Paris someday. I love the French countryside, with the worn villas and Tuscan vineyards. I love San Diego, where my husband I have spent many, many days and nights over the years. Even though I didn't grow up there, I consider it "my city." I love the Harbor, the Cabrillo lighthouse, Sunset Cliffs, Coronado Island, and the bustling energy of the Gaslamp Quarter at midnight on a Saturday night. I love Mexican food. I love crusty bread dipped in olive oil and balsamic. I adore chocolate. Especially chocolate-covered strawberries. And most of all, I love spending time with my husband and my family.

And I've loved spending these last couple of years on Flickr, especially when I find a photo that makes me gasp or laugh or cry. You all inspire me.

I live with my hubby of 20 years (my high school sweetheart) in Southern California with our wonderful daughter, Maisy. We hope to give Maisy a sibling in the next couple of years.

"Why love if losing hurts so much? I have no answers any more. Only the life I have lived. Twice in that life I've been given the choice; as a boy and as a man. The boy chose safety, man chooses suffering. The pain now is part of the happiness then. That's the deal." -- the character of C.S. Lewis, from the movie Shadowlands

"Cat claims to have only recently started taking pictures. Her stunning shots on flickr are a testimonial in themselves - if this is just the beginning, then where it Cat going to go? Wonderful sharp in-your-face pictures, a gentle eye, a keen appreciation of colour and humour - what more could a photographer ask?"
