If you "favorite" my photos, but have no photos available for me to see, I will block you.

Please pardon their lack of clarity, these photos have been taken with a point-and-shoot camera, and there has been minimal finesse in the modification of raw jpeg. Add to those factors a great deal of compression (because I'm on dial-up with an equally ancient computer and don't like to lock up my phone too long) and you get 'general idea' pictures rather than visual brilliance.

I am a product of multiple generations of bohemain naturalists, poets, philosophers and engineers. I was raised without television and am idiosyncratic at best.

My screen name is for Laura Ingalls Wilder. When you see "Little House on the Prairie" written out like that, do you think of the TV actors' faces or the books? If you've never read them, it is worth it. If you haven't read them since you were a kid, it's worth it. She describes how Pa Ingalls made tools, butchered hogs, and built houses. She describes how Ma unstitched and turned their calico dresses inside out to make them look brighter, how she went about storing and making various kinds of foods in a pioneer lifestyle. The books depict how their lives worked on a functional level as they made their way from homestead to homestead.

I'm a permaculture wanna-be (hoping to jump-start cycles of self-seeding food and flower plantings, rainwater catchment of roof-harvested water, solar waterheating and cooking in the summer and solar pre-warming for the powered water heater, wind-pumped well, etc etc ad nauseum), and to me that looks like some blend between Thoreau and Pa Ingalls with something from the sixties thrown in for style. My photos are all about the same things going through the seasons on Shanti Knoll.

Hi again.
I got a better camera, but I still don't use it at capacity because neither my computer memory nor my upload speed will support it.
But I really wanted to add on because I wanted to apologize for a trend in my behavior in the comment stream and to give you a window on how it works for me lately. I have recently changed my contacts page setting to show only 1 photo per person because I was missing uploads of people whose photos I love to go see. I often don't have time to comment on everyone - it would help if I was less verbose, but then I wouldn't be me! LOL.

So what I've been doing lately is commenting on the contacts whose uploads show up on the first page. Please forgive me if I never actually see a picture you might have expected that I would enjoy!

"IIG is the bees knees. I have no idea what that means, but if it's good, then I mean it sincerely. Her (near) daily documentation of life in the slow lane is an inspiration, and hopefully an example for all us tailgaters to lay on the binders, slow the hell down, and start breathing in the simple green wonder that IIG presents for us in her photos."

"Isabella is the type of person that makes flickr a really enjoyable place. First off, her photostream is always fresh with delightful and interesting photographs that show off her lifestyle of care and loving for planet Earth. The views of her gardens, the lands around her home and the critters that she searches out and captures visually, all portray a life filled with conscious consideration for her environment. On top of all that, she always has a pleasant comment for others - a comment that shows she is truly interested in other people and their photos. It's a delight having her as a flickr friend."
