I'm a 67 year old , left-handed, retired Art (Drawing/Painting/History of Art) professor from Santa Barbara, California now living about 150 miles west of Chicago in the "Quad Cities". I live within a mile or so of both the Mississippi and the Rock Rivers in northwestern Illinois. My goal is to leave Illinois one of these days; back to California, maybe to New Mexico...not sure.

I have two adult children living in California and five wonderful grandchildren.

I enjoy gardening, both flowers and vegetables. I continue to work full time as a much abused very minor clerk for one of those huge home improvement stores...a place aspiring to be more like Wal-Mart..like that's a "good thing".

I read compulsively, mostly prose, but also poetry and history and science, my favorite authors are Gabriel Garcia-Marquez and Yukio Mishima and a few others.

I tend to like photographs that suggest a narrative--a story--and I appreciate minimalism, simplicity, moodiness, and uncomplicated techniques and compositions. Unique "vision" excites me, more so if the photographer presents a shy vision which feels "private" or personal.

Many of the photographs I see here at Flickr enrich my life greatly

My own photos tend not to be art but "keepsakes" like harvests, or memories of seasons and storms... a feeble documentation of the passage of time.
