Twenty-six years ago, in a hospital room in Louisville, Ky., my journey began. It's been a wonderful ride.

Since my arrival, I've had the distinct honor of being a brother, a son and a grandson. I've been able to learn what love is. And what it means to work hard, to sacrifice and to put others before yourself. I try to make these values a part of my daily life.

I've also had the high honor of being blessed with the ability to write. Or at least with the boldness to think I can. It's an attribute I do not take lightly. Words are very important to me. They are my life, and bring me closer to the world around me.

I am many things, but most of all I am this: a student, a friend and, yes, a writer.
