I am an invertebrate zoologist and marine ecologist affiliated with UC Santa Barbara's Marine Science Institute. Growing up on Richardson Bay in Marin County, I've been hooked on rocky shores and nudibranchs ever since, taking photographs when I think of drying my hands in the field. I've only been using a digital camera for a few years (nothing fancy, just a Canon Powershot A85, and more recently, my wife's PowerShot A3000).

In my research I specialize on opisthobranch sea slug molluscs, especially their diets and mode of development and recently have been repeating a number of historical surveys of nudibranchs in central California to examine the effects of climate variability on their species composition and abundance.
