I see myself primarily as a birder, but being a photographer is also a part of my identity. I have birded in various parts of the country in my quest to see and photograph more birds. I also am president and a trip leader for the Northern Virginia Bird Club and am on the Board of Directors for the VSO (Virginia Society of Ornithology). In addition to building a life list of birds I have seen, I also keep a photo list. So far I have photographed 507 bird species in North America. It's not just birds though. I will take a picture of whatever seems interesting in the natural world.
