I started to produce postcards in the mid 1990s, gradually specialising in canals in the UK.

I consider photography to be, in part, a record of change and so thought it would be interesting to try to start an archive. Some photos may include my comments on what has changed.

All the photos on my early postcards were taken with a Canon T90 using 35mm film. These photos appear as scans of 6 x 4 prints. The lack of quality of these scans compared to digital images is striking. Printing from the original negative is, of course, a different story. I started to use a digital camera, a Canon 10D, in 2005.

Every postcard has a number and this includes every reprint. The Photostream appears to miss some numbers out but the missing numbers are in fact reprints of earlier postcards. I decided not to replicate the same photos and information. All the reprint numbers are indicated on the heading of the original printing of that card. However, I realise that it can require some trawling through the Photostream to discover which postcards are in the gaps. Please email me if you would like to know which numbers relate to which reprinted cards.

Please do not use the photos without asking. You can contact me on postcards@visionscards.co.uk
