Where to begin?

First and foremost, I am a nature lover, so that is where my photography interests lie. Whether it be beautiful wildflowers, or butterflies, or vast landscapes, or birds, or animals....I will photograph whatever catches my eye! I am especially interested in birds, however, and have been an avid birdwatcher for 20 years (I am 33 at the moment ;-).

I also love to travel. To see and experience new things. Different cultures are fascinating, and I like broadening my horizons. But from a photography stance, it will quickly be noticed that I am drawn, again, towards scenery. Also townscapes, architecture, ruins, and evidence of history and time on a cultural level. I am not one who is terribly interested in stills or in portraits. At this juncture, at least.

Finally, I purchased the 'Pro' account because I didn't want upload restrictions. I am definitely still learning - In fact I only acquired my digital camera in February of 2008 and am only now seriously attempting nature photography. It is a learning process and I am thoroughly enjoying the challenge of continuing to improve in my photography.

Note: I do not do ANY HDR - in fact I don't really like HDR photos, to me it ruins something about photography, and nine times out of ten I don't think it adds anything to the photograph. I also find it unnecessary if you start with a solid photograph in the first place.

As of early 2011, however, I have begun shooting in RAW format; thus I utilize LightRoom for White Balance, contrast, and saturation adjustments as desired.

I use a Nikon D80 with either the Tamron 18-250, Tamron 28-300 lens, or beginning in April 2011, the Nikkor 12-24mm 4f wide-angle lens... which is a wonderful lens to add to my repertoire.
