I have been interested in photography since I was a child and watched my grandfather take photographs at every family gathering or event with a Kodak Jr, made in ~1920 (which I now own). My first real camera was a Nikkormat EL, which accompanied me on many wilderness trips and introduced me to the art. My oldest son used this same camera for 3 college photography classes, but it is now semi-retired....

My interest in photography was reinvigorated with the advent of digital. I started, as my grandparents did, with a Kodak...the DC 3400 (2mp), followed by a Sony DSC S-85 (4mp). I soon realized that I missed the flexibility of an SLR, and I returned to Nikon, purchasing a D100. I have since added a D200, along with the following lenses and other gear:

Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom
Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom
Nikkor 35-105 f/3.5-4.5 AF Macro-zoom
Nikkor 40mm f/2.8G AF-S DX Micro
Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED AF-S VR Zoom
Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 AF-D Micro
Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro
Nikkor 300mm f/4 ED IF AF-S D
Nikkor TC-14E II 1.4X Teleconverter
Nikkor TC-17E II 1.7X Teleconverter
Nikon SB-800 flash
MC-36 Remote Cable Release
Nikon SB-800 flash
Manfrotto 681B Monopod
Several Bogen/Manfrotto tripod set-ups

Lenses used primarily with the Nikkormat EL:

Nikkor 50 f/1.4 AI
Nikkor 55mm P.C f/3.5 micro (AI'ed by Nikon)
Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 (AI'ed by Nikon)
Nikkor 300mm f/4.5 H-series (AI'ed by Nikon)
Nikkor 43-86mm f/3.5 Zoom-Nikkor C Auto

My youngest son has caught the photography bug....after shooting my D100 and 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR zoom, as well as his own 50mm f/1.8 AF-D and a 70-300 AF-D zoom, for awhile, he has purchased his own Nikon D7000. His older brother is now also shooting a D7000, a gift from his mom for his college graduation.

I am simply an amateur who enjoys the art!
